The Charmin effect?

It’s a delicate subject, I know, but recent reports have been talking about the problems of the super soft toilet paper, which requires virgin pulp to manufacture. According to a recent NYT article, TP with recycled fibers are only 2 percent of sales in the US. It also takes a lot of water to make the cushy tushy tissue.

One TV news outlet focused on the obvious question but I wondered how it does in a septic system. According to one manufacturer, however, it’s totally safe for septic tanks and they’ve perfected the “softness” issue.

So, would you use recycled TP? I’ve tried it before and didn’t seem to care one way or the other, but I’m thinking I’ll give the “green rolls” another look on the next go around. (Insert groaner music here.)
